Artwork by Edwin Herrenschmidt
This piece is a tribute to the "cabinet de curiosités" from the renaissance in Europe, yet influenced graphically by the Art Nouveau movement (Mucha). Focused on the celestial skies and adorned with poems punched into the wood, it is both a typographical approach and a poetic departure from the otherwise encyclopedic categorization that a "cabinet" was meant to be.
Private collection.
Year: 2006. Medium: Silkscreen, found objects, acrylic paint, etching plates.
