As a Calgary resident, Doug uses every opportunity to go to the mountains and forests. These trips are important to him because he believes the average person takes this beauty for granted. He tries to integrate some of these images in every piece, bringing nature to the viewer.
Doug's work respects the traditional aspects of Printmaking, He has taken them to a new level of self-indulgence. Just as no two trees are alike, no two prints are alike, they are all originals. One of one. The trees he creates are for esthetic reasons but act as his own personal forest.
Doug graduated with Distinction in Printmaking from the Alberta College of Art & Design in 1995. He has exhibited overseas in both the Czech Republic and Great Britain, as well in Calgary.
